Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Ford Bronco epitomized the changing automotive landscape of the 1970s, blending rugged utility with a touch of adventure. Launched in the late 1960s, it quickly became a symbol of the era's off-road culture and freedom-seeking spirit. As a compact SUV, it embodied a shift towards more practical vehicles as the nation grappled with energy crises and economic challenges.
The second-generation Bronco marked a major turning point. Intended to enter production in 1974, it was postponed until 1978 in response to fuel economy concerns related to the 1973 fuel crisis. When it finally entered the market, it was significantly larger and aligned more with the trends of the era, featuring V8 engines and improved creature comforts. This adaptation to the changing market preferences resonated well with the Bronco's original target audience, even though it faced stiff competition from other full-size SUVs. Of course, America’s love affair with the Bronco has never waned. In 2021, Ford reintroduced a modern version of the iconic SUV with the design aesthetic harkening back to the beloved first and second-generation models.

According to the Marti Report, this well-equipped 1979 Bronco XLT was completed on 23 May 1979 bound for the Denver, Colorado District Sales Office. Acquired by the consignor in 2022 in the Boston, Massachusetts area, it was noted to be a solid example with rust on the tailgate and minor rust in the quarters. They commissioned the recent restorative work completed in February of 2023 that included rust and body repairs, a repaint, new mechanical parts, work to the braking system and suspension, fresh fluids and battery, and a new muffler at a cost of approximately $20,000 for which receipts are on file. Since restoration, the consignor reports that they have traveled approximately 1,000 miles in the truck.
