Introduced for the 2015 model year, the sixth generation of the iconic Ford Mustang was presented with all-new styling and many performance upgrades, including the addition of independent rear suspension. Codenamed the S550, this new generation would also mark fifty years of continuous Mustang production. Available in either Fastback or Convertible body configuration with a range of engine and trim options, Ford would boast about the refreshed 2018 Mustang GT, saying, “While designers strengthened its iconic look, a passionate team of Mustang engineers beefed up just about everything else.” Performance was enhanced by the Gen2 5.0-liter “Coyote” V8 with a new dual-injection system featuring low-pressure port fuel injection and high-pressure direct injection, with output increases to 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Also available was the special GT Performance Package with TORSEN differential, K-brace, Brembo brakes with six-piston front calipers, a Gauge Pack instrument cluster, stiffer springs, and upsized rear sway bar. Revised LED taillamps, a new bumper, and a restyled fascia completed the revamped look.
