Description
Initially offered as a limited edition, track-focused model to commemorate the end of production for the first generation of the "new" Mini, the 2013 Mini John Cooper Works GP continued where the previous iteration left off. The suspension was completely redesigned with coil-overs offering a 0.8-inch range of adjustment. Compared to the standard John Cooper Works edition car, the GP model is lowered by 0.8 inches in the front and 0.6 inches at the rear with 50 percent stiffer springs. The front brakes are larger with 13 inch vented front discs and Brembo six-piston fixed calipers, with 11 inch rear brakes are quelled with four-piston calipers. The rear wing, diffuser, and underbody panels are reported to reduce rear axle lift by 90 percent at speeds above 62 mph. The final touch is unique four-spoke 17x7.5 inch aluminum alloy wheels originally shod with 215/40 Kumho Ecsta V700 tires paired with two degrees of the negative camber and reduced toe-in to take full advantage of the sporting nature instilled into this track-focused model.
