2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca Ride Along Video
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
In 2012, Ford reignited the legend of the Mustang Boss 302, reviving a nameplate that had been dormant for forty-two years. First introduced and produced for just two years in 1969 and 1970, Boss 302 became an iconic Mustang with a Trans-Am victory in 1970. Ford revived the Boss 302 over four decades later, again for just two years between 2012 and 2013. Marketed as the "quickest, best-handling straight-production Mustang ever offered by Ford," when re-introduced for the 2012 model year, the new Boss 302 featured a formidable 444 horsepower 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, known as the "Road Runner." This powerplant came equipped with a forged crankshaft and connecting rods, CNC-ported heads with each head reportedly undergoing 2.5 hours of CNC machining, revised camshafts, larger intake valves, and a unique dual-exhaust system with removable metal accentuation discs to produce approximately 32 additional horsepower over the Coyote V8 engine.
For those seeking track-ready performance, the Boss 302 Laguna Seca offered unparalleled rigidity with its tubular X-brace and Torsen limited-slip rear differential with a 3.73:1 axle ratio. The suspension tuning was revised with stiffer, manually adjustable shock absorbers, and the front seats were replaced with RECARO sport seats. The car is also distinguished by its lightweight Sterling Gray-painted 19 inch alloy wheels and larger rear spoiler to increase downforce. The suspension tuning was revised with a track-focused Mustang and remains highly sought after as one of the most exclusive special-edition Mustang variants to date. Suspension tuning was revised with a track-focused Mustang, which remains highly sought after as one of the most exclusive special-edition Mustang variants to date. Named after the iconic track where Parnelli Jones secured a Trans-Am victory in 1970, the Laguna Seca were special versions of Boss 302s produced for the 2012 and 2013 model years.
