2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Cold Start Video
Description
It’s called the “King of the Hill” for a reason. Closing out the C6-generation, the ZR1 was the highest-performance variant of the Corvette, named after the original “King,” the 1990–1995 ZR1. With help from an intercooled twin-rotor Eaton R2300 supercharger the 6.2-liter “Blue Devil” LS9 V8 was able to propel the lightweight Corvette to a top speed of 192 miles per hour. The “King” featured huge Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires on unique 20-spoke alloy wheels, 19 inch up front, 20 inch in back. World-class Brembo carbon-ceramic disc brakes were added, and the ZR1’s body was completely molded in carbon-fiber material with many aerodynamic tweaks crafted in the wind tunnel. No need to just brag, the ZR1 actually shows carbon fiber weaving through the special paint, while the LS9 supercharger is displayed through the hood for all to see. Updates made the 2013 version even better — Corvette engineer Jim Mero turned in a stunning lap time of 7 minutes 19.63 seconds on the Nürburgring’s feared Nordschleife, more than six seconds faster than the previous best of 7:26.4 set in a 2009 ZR1 also driven by Mero.
This low-mile ZR1 Corvette is one of 482 built in 2013, the last year for the sixth-generation King of the Hill.
