Description
A true “pocket rocket,” the 2012 BMW 135i is part of the first generation of the BMW 1 Series, specifically the E82 coupe and E88 convertible models, produced from 2004 to 2013.
Under the hood, the 2012 135i features a 3.0-liter “N55” inline-six engine, which is turbocharged to produce 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 135i’s rear-wheel-drive layout and near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution contributes to its agile handling. Despite its compact size, the 135i is known for its impressive performance, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just over five seconds.
The 135i’s design is compact yet aggressive, with a distinctive front fascia, short overhangs, and a muscular stance. Inside, it offers a driver-focused cockpit, including leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and a premium sound system.
Motor Trend reported, “We’ve questioned whether the 300-hp, 3.0-liter twin-turbo I6 is too much engine for the 1-series ever since we put a 135i through a Four Seasons test a couple years ago, but there's no denying that this is a sweet engine.... With swift acceleration, precise steering, and powerful brakes, this 135i is great fun to drive.”
