2010 Dodge Viper SRT10
Description
Boasting ten cylinders, muscular bodywork, side-exit exhausts, and ‘throw-you-back-in-your-seat’ power, the Viper was conceived by Chrysler as a raw, analog American sports car. The Viper debuted as a concept in 1989 and was in production by 1992, seeing multiple generations and pauses in production over the following decades, returning in 2008 in its fourth generation (2008-2010). Available in roadster and coupe body styles, the new Viper churned out an outrageous 600 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque from its enlarged 8.4-liter V10, which now featured better-flowing heads and larger valves. The transmission was beefed up to cope with the extra grunt, employing an industry-first twin-plate clutch, wider gears, and a shifter with 30 percent shorter throws. Externally, the car received a new, purposeful-looking vented hood, while new wheel designs and colors like the striking Toxic Orange Pearl presented here offered a range of customization.
The accompanying Carfax report shows that this 2010 Viper SRT10 Roadster was enjoyed by a series of owners in Oregon, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas, when on 4 October 2017 the car was reportedly stolen from the residence of its sixth owner in the city of Houston. Eventually, the Viper reemerged on 23 June 2022 when a new owner who purchased the car from Copart contacted Hagerty about its active ‘stolen notice.’ The car was subsequently recovered by Houston Police damage-free on 5 July 2022, avoiding any cosmetic or mechanical harm during its disappearance and accruing only 865 additional miles.
The original Hagerty customer and sixth owner of the car was paid out in full, and the car was declared as a total loss under the assumption that it would not be recovered. Now that it has re-emerged, we are selling it with fresh fluids, a clean title, and without reserve!
