The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class, a line of grand tourers produced from 1992 to 2014, is known for its luxury and performance. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz discontinued the CL-Class name, transitioning to the S-Class Coupe/Convertible with the introduction of the C217 S-Class Coupe. The W216 model, introduced in June 2006 and showcased at the Paris Motor Show, continued the tradition of its predecessors with its sleek, B-pillar-free side windows. 

The W216 CL-Class was available in four variants: the CL 550, which featured a 5.5-liter V8 engine and optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive; the high-performance CL 63 AMG, with a 6.2-liter V8 engine and an optional performance package; and the ultra-luxurious CL 600, equipped with a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V12 engine. Built on the chassis of the W221 S-Class, the CL-Class had a 116.3 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 4,508 pounds. Although rear seat legroom was limited, consistent with the 2+2 coupe design, the CL-Class offered more space than many competitors and featured a trunk capacity comparable to that of the flagship Audi A8 sedan.
