Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced in April 2006 and launched as a 2007 model, the Saturn Sky Red Line was the performance-oriented variant of the Sky roadster. Built on General Motors' Kappa platform, it shared its underpinnings with the Pontiac Solstice GXP, Opel GT, and Daewoo G2X.
The Sky Red Line was powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec LNF inline-four engine, producing 260 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel-drive sports car featured a five-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic transmission and a sport-tuned suspension for enhanced handling. Distinctive design elements included a more aggressive front fascia, dual exhaust tips, and 18-inch wheels. Inside, the Red Line boasted unique touches such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, special embroidery on the seats, and metallic door sill covers.
The Sky Red Line, like the base Sky, was discontinued after the 2010 model year due to General Motors' restructuring and the eventual phase-out of the Saturn brand, but enthusiasts love it now for the same reason the media and owners did when it arrived.
“Not only is this car a dancer in the turns, but it's a sprinter in the straights,” Car and Driver wrote in 2006. “Saturn claims a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds with a 13.9-second quarter mile at 100 mph. Believable? Sure. Fun? Oh yeah.”
