Description
The new water-cooled 911 was a shock to the system when introduced to the automotive world in 1997. Yet, today, it is obvious that the change was necessary, with the progression delivering all manner of fantastic and collectible Porsche sports cars over the past 25 years. On the leading edge of that revolution were cars like this 2004 911 Carrera Cabriolet. The Cabriolet was designed in concert with the Coupe, eliminating much of the potential harshness from the typical open-topped variant. What had shocked many just a few years earlier had turned into a sales success. Porsche enthusiasts quickly warmed to the idea of a water-cooled 911 and ordering examples like this 996.2. The second-generation 996 offered a larger 3.6-liter 320 horsepower engine, updated “Turbo-style” headlights, redesigned bumper skins and side skirts, a glovebox and more. Second chances are rare in life. Showing just 12,509 miles, this striking Triple Black 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet with its six-speed manual transmission is one of those opportunities to experience a drop top 996-generation 911 in near showroom condition.
