2004 Ford Thunderbird
Description
Following the retro-style craze of the early 2000s, the Ford Motor Company reintroduced the Thunderbird in 2002 after a five-year hiatus. The new ninth-generation Thunderbird mimicked the styling of its 1950s counterpart, featuring a mesh grille and the iconic porthole adorning its removable hardtop. Under the hood, a Jaguar-sourced 3.9-liter V8 engine sent power to the rear wheels with a five-speed automatic transmission handling shifting duties. The Thunderbird's perfect mix of retro styling and modern refinement was wildly praised by the automotive press, with MotorTrend magazine crowning it Car of the Year in 2002. Like Pompeii, all good things must come to an end, and Thunderbird's ninth generation ended in 2005. Today, the millennium-era Thunderbirds hold a special place in the car-collecting community, serving as a testament to Ford's exemplary design prowess during that era.
