Description
Back in 1953, Chevrolet referred to its new Corvette as the “first of the dream cars to come true.” A half-century later, the fifth-generation Corvette was the most radically redesigned version of America’s sports car. The new C5 was stiffer and lighter than the previous generation C4 due to the innovative use of hydroformed frame rails and featured a transaxle that improved not only the weight distribution but also increased interior space. Other new features included a drive-by-wire throttle and a variable effort power steering system, but most notably, the C5 would introduce the world to the now legendary all-aluminum “LS” V8 engine family. All of this created a sports car that offered innovative construction, superior comfort, and exceptional performance.
Chevrolet celebrated this half-century milestone with the 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition, finished in special Anniversary Red paint with Xirallic aluminum-oxide flakes under a special tinted clear-coat, complemented by special Shale leather interior trim with anniversary badges and cockpit embroidery. The new F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control was also standard on the Anniversary Edition. For those who dreamed of buying a new 50th Anniversary but missed out — this incredibly preserved convertible is available with only 6,411 miles on the odometer.
