Description
Winning the 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race is a tremendous accomplishment for any automaker. In 2003, the winner of the competitive GTS class was the factory Corvette Racing C5-R, a machine based on the production Corvette Z06. Starting in 2001 the new Z06 model featured a lightweight hardtop body and a more powerful LS6 engine with a redesigned intake manifold, revised cylinder heads, a higher compression ratio, and more. FE4 suspension featuring larger front stabilizer bar, stiffer rear leaf spring, and revised camber was unique to the Z06, along with specially developed Goodyear Eagle F1 SC tires, 265/40 ZR17 front and 295/35 ZR18 rear. Car and Driver reported 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and covered the quarter mile in 12.7 seconds at 113 mph yet stopped from 70 mph in 152 feet. They concluded, “More power, more grip, and less weight add up to an infallible prescription for higher performance, and the Z06 fills the bill.”
This Electron Blue 2003 Z06 shows just 4,000 miles under two owners, caring for the Corvette about 10 years each. This is a near showroom fresh Corvette with the heart of a champion.
