Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The BMW “E53” stands tall as the pioneering generation of the BMW X5, symbolizing the German automaker's bold venture into the mid-size luxury crossover SUV segment. As BMW's flagship SUV offering, the X5 was meticulously engineered to deliver a spirited and dynamic driving experience on the asphalt, placing a premium on performance while sacrificing none of BMW's renowned driving dynamics. Despite its all-wheel-drive setup, BMW's engineering ingenuity ensured that a substantial 62 percent of the engine's torque was channeled to the rear wheels, staying true to the exhilarating driving feel characteristic of the brand's esteemed rear-wheel-drive sedans. BMW strategically positioned the X5 as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), underscoring its athletic persona and setting it apart from traditional SUVs.
In 2001, BMW unveiled a more sporting variant of the X5, designated as the 4.6is model. Boasting a formidable “M62B46” V8 engine under the hood, the 4.6is delivered an impressive output of 342 horsepower, elevating the X5's performance to new heights. They were exclusively available in four striking colors — Black, Imola Red, Estoril Blue, and Titanium Silver — and further set apart visually were its 20 inch wheels, which enveloped larger brakes compared to the standard X5, ensuring enhanced stopping power. The 4.6is also sported additional rear fender flares and distinct front and rear bumpers, accentuating its sporty demeanor.
