Description
AM General touted its M1097A2 — a variant of the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), commonly known as the Humvee — as "cost effective, capable, and sustainable." Introduced in the early 1980s, the HMMWV was designed to replace several vehicles in the U.S. military's fleet, offering versatility, durability, and high mobility across various terrains.
By 2003, the M1097A2 had become a crucial component of military operations and was known for its enhanced payload capacity and robust design, making it suitable for a wide range of missions, including cargo transport, troop movement, ambulance services, and various defense weapon systems.
The M1097A2 is equipped with a 6.5-liter V8 diesel engine, providing 160 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque for reliable performance in demanding conditions. The M1097A2's design includes independent suspension, which improves off-road capabilities and ride comfort; four-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth operation; and high ground clearance and deep-water fording capabilities, making it adaptable to diverse environments.
The 2003 Humvee on offer is an original M1097A2 that was used in limited capacity by the U.S. National Guard and still wears its camouflage paint.

Ownership History
The California consignor of this 2003 AM General M1097A2 purchased the Hummer in October 2024. “This is an excellent example of an M1097A2. A former National Guard vehicle, it saw limited use during its service life. As a result, it is in exceptional condition.”
