2002 BMW M5 Walk Around Video
Description
The E39 M5, introduced at the 1998 Geneva Motor Show, represents a high point in BMW’s legacy of performance sedans, often considered the pinnacle of performance sedans among BMW enthusiasts. It was the first M5 to feature a V8 engine, a remarkable upgrade from its predecessor with its 5.0-liter S62 V8, producing nearly 400 horsepower, and the E39 M5 was the fastest production sedan on the planet at the time of introduction. The engine's advanced technologies, including individual throttle bodies and the double VANOS variable valve timing system, allowed the E39 M5 to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. Coupled with a six-speed manual transmission, the E39 M5 delivered not only impressive straight-line speed but also an engaging driving experience that set new standards in the sport-sedan segment.
Beyond its impressive power, the E39 M5 excelled in handling and balance thanks to near-perfect weight distribution and a chassis finely tuned on the world's most demanding racetracks. Its lightweight aluminum suspension and advanced braking system, including Dynamic Brake Control, ensured exceptional agility and braking performance. The E39 M5’s understated yet stylish design complemented its engineering prowess, making it a vehicle that seamlessly blended performance with everyday usability that still captivates the hearts and minds of enthusiasts to this day.
