2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 Cold Start and Walk-Around Video
Description
In 1993, the fourth generation of Firebird was introduced, which turned out to be the last one for this iconic model. The base models were equipped with a V6 engine, while Formula and Trans Am models received the 5.7-liter LT1 V8 engine. The LT1 engine was updated in 1996, resulting in increased horsepower of up to 285 horsepower, thanks to a new dual catalytic converter system. Additionally, the WS6 performance package, which included a "Ram Air" hood, different tailpipes, tighter suspension, and available Bilstein shocks, was much sought after. The WS6 package also increased the performance of the car to 305 horsepower and 335 pound feet of torque. The most significant visual update for the fourth-generation Firebird came in 1998, which included a facelift that gave the car a new hood and front fascia. The Firebird gained the LS1 V8 engine from the C5 Corvette this year, which was lighter, more powerful, and more easily tuned than the LT-series V8 engines it replaced. A 2000 Motor Trend test of a WS6 Trans Am found that the car could do zero to 60 mph in five seconds flat, the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds, and pull 0.84 g on the skid pad. The test concluded that it had the "perfect '60s exhaust note that's equal parts Woodward Avenue and Daytona 500."
