Description

The Pontiac GTO is celebrated as not only one of the first muscle cars but a cultural icon that marked a pivotal period in American automotive history. 1967 marked the final year of the GTO’s first-generation and, as such, it featured many improvements, both technical and cosmetic. New for 1967, the GTO featured a range of 400 cubic-inch V8 engine options, available in multiple power levels, such as the 335 horsepower (economy), 360 horsepower (standard), and 400 horsepower (high output) variants. The two-speed automatic transmission was replaced with a “Turbo Hydra-Matic” three-speed.

The exterior design of the 1967 GTO was bold and distinctive with its signature stacked headlights, sleek profile, and aggressive stance, creating an attention-grabber in the showroom. It was available as both a coupe and convertible, with the rarer drop-top version accounting for just 11% of production that year. Inside, the GTO boasted a driver-focused cockpit with bucket seats, a sports steering wheel, and a host of performance-oriented features. This car wasn't just about raw power; it offered a comfortable and stylish interior as well. The 1967 Pontiac GTO, the final year of the first generation, is the epitome of a muscle car to many that clearly reflects the essence of the era. With a combination of power, style, and performance, examples like this 1967 GTO Convertible, finished in its original colors of Montreux Blue with an Ivory-White soft top, are highly sought-after examples of “The Great One.”
