Description
The 1964 Chevrolet Impala is a culmination of a unique era in General Motors history. Remembered as the last “X frame” car available in the Chevrolet lineup, not only was it assembled on one of the most popular body styles with a “Jet-Smooth Ride” from the manufacturer, the mid-size Impala uniquely received a full slate of engines as well. It was also the final year of the Impala’s third generation. In Chevrolet’s advertising material, they noted that the 1964 Impalas featured a “new full-width sculptured grille, a longer looking silhouette, distinctive front and rear deck windsplits, and tasteful chrome trim.” Additionally, the softer look for the 1964 model year featured a taillight assembly with an "upside-down U" shaped aluminum trim strip above the taillights with the individual lights were surrounded by a body-colored panel, rather than the aluminum-colored panel from the year before.
Of course, today, the 1964 Impalas are ripe for customization, with many sporting the personal touches and tastes of their owners during restoration. This 1964 Chevrolet Impala, originally outfitted with a V8 engine, sports a 350 cu-in variant with a four-barrel carburetor, special Candy Apple Red Pearl paint, and 15 inch American Racing wheels for a decidedly sporting, mild Hot Rod look.
