1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/435 Coupe Walk Around and Ride Along Video
Description
Beginning in 1963 Chevrolet offered a new, forward-thinking body style for the Corvette dubbed the “Sting Ray.” Only lasting for five years (1963-1967) the “C2” series is considered the most elegant and sporty of all Corvette generations, with head engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov purported to have said, “For the first time I now have a Corvette I can be proud to drive in Europe.” These C2 Corvettes were offered with an enormous range of engine, transmission, and performance options allowing anyone in the 1960s to order a boulevard cruiser with a 300 hp small-block and three-speed automatic up to the “big-block” 427 cu-in variants with a four-speed producing an underrated 435 horsepower. While the earlier C2s were constructed with more ornate trim, the 1967 model year is considered the most refined version of the C2 series with the removal of excess exterior trim decoration and badging, front fenders featuring five smaller air vents, and a new big-block hood scoop.
This undocumented example is restored in its original trim tag colors of Rally Red and a Black stinger stripe correctly matching its black interior, it features just 269 miles since completion. According to the reproduction paperwork, this well-optioned Sting Ray, with 12 total options listed, was equipped from St. Louis with rare cast aluminum bolt-on aluminum wheels—just one of 720 so equipped from the factory—and a powerful “L71” 427 cu-in big block under the hood. This 1967 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe is the definition of the classic 1960s American sports car and is offered with reproduction copies of its dealer order paperwork, invoice, and GM window sticker.

According to its reproduction window sticker, this 427/435 Corvette Coupe was originally sold via Dawson Taylor Chevrolet, Inc. of Detroit Michigan to Donald E. McGeachy of Commerce Township, Michigan. Ordered on 25 April 1967, it appears McGeachy was liberal with the options, ordering $1,467.60 in additional extras, including the big-block 427 cu-in L71 engine for $437.10.
