Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 405 has traditionally been the technological looking glass of the Peugeot model range. It exudes an exceptional character with an exclusive exterior featuring a functional trunk spoiler, side skirts, and low-profile tires on 15-inch light aluminum wheels. The interior of the 405 is as sporting as the exterior with a three-spoke steering wheel, thickly bolstered and heated seats, and of course a five-speed manual transmission to add to the excitement. Many feel the centerpiece of the 405 Mi 16 must be its 1.9-liter four-cylinder dual overhead cam engine.Upon release, Peugeot measured that the high-compression performance, twin cam motor produced 160 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, reaching a top speed of 215 kph. The Peugeot 405 was immortalized in the iconic British commercial Take My Breath Away, depicting a Black 405 speeding through an exploding field to the tune of the iconic Berlin track. Today,it continues to live up to the mystique of Peugeot’s marketing team.

Finished in Black over a Grey leather interior, this 405 Mi-16, rarely seen in the United States, exudes an air of sophistication and performance. The sleek lines of the body, coupled with the aerodynamic enhancements, not only contribute to its striking appearance but also optimize its performance on the road. This 405 Mi-16 comes with extensive documentation of restoration repair by Schebish Bros Automotive of Manassas, Virginia in which over $70,000 was spent in parts and labor.

This Peugeot 405 was purchased new by the current owner and has been a labor of love for over thirty years. It was driven daily for several years and then converted to “enthusiast use” later in its life. As it was meant to be a keeper car, substantial efforts (receipts attached) were completed to rejuvenate the cosmetic and mechanical condition. The car specialist representing this vehicle states that the driving experience was a blast, a true 80’s icon. Power delivery was smooth, shift and clutch function effortless, and the 405 had ample stopping power with communicative steering.
