1967 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 2-Door Hardtop Engine Idle

1967 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 2-Door Hardtop Exhaust Idle
Description
The Coronet nameplate was reintroduced by Dodge in 1965 after a six-year absence as a mid-sized line with a clean, slab-sided appearance. Available in 13 different variations across four trim levels (base Coronet, 440, 500, and Deluxe), the Coronet could be had as a two-door sedan, hardtop coupe, convertible, four-door sedan, or station wagon with power ranging from the base slant-six engine’s 145-horsepower to a ferocious 425-horsepower from the 426 cu-in Hemi V8. In 1966, Dodge restyled the Coronet to complement its Charger fastback with a shorter and wider profile, following it up in 1967 with more Charger styling cues including a new single-piece grille. The Coronet R/T line was also introduced in 1967, standing for "Road and Track." This sporty trim was available as a two-door hardtop or convertible and featured a 440 cu-in, four-barrel, Magnum V8 as the standard engine. At $426 more than the Coronet 500, this is a desirable alternative to the more common Charger and played an important role in establishing Dodge as a major player in the 1960s muscle segment.
