Description

Introduced for the 1999 model year, the Saab 9-3 was a heavily revised version of the second-generation Saab 900. Saab claimed over 1,100 changes were made, including improved suspension, enhanced safety features, and updated styling, and with the company under the control of General Motors since 1989, it had the vast resources to do that. But Saab’s heritage was aircraft, and the 9-3 continued to feature innovations inspired by the military fighter planes Saab is famous for.

The 9-3 was available in various body styles, including a three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback, and a convertible. It featured a range of engines, from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four to a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four in the performance Viggen model, providing a blend of performance and efficiency. The interior was driver-focused, with ergonomic controls and the innovative "Night Panel" feature, which dimmed unnecessary dashboard lights to reduce driver distraction at night. One of the standout features was the introduction of Saab's Active Head Restraints (SAHR), designed to reduce the risk of whiplash injuries in rear-end collisions.

This single-owner 1999 Saab 9-3 SE Convertible was purchased new as a 25th wedding anniversary gift, and its low mileage reflects its cherished ownership.
