Description
The 1994-1996 Chevrolet Impala SS was developed using the Caprice and the GM B-body platform. Initially showcased as a concept car at the 1992 Detroit Auto Show, the production version remained largely unchanged. It came equipped with the Caprice's “9C1” police package, which included features such as a strengthened suspension, a high-capacity cooling system, dual exhaust, a transmission cooler, and larger disc brakes. A limited-slip rear differential was standard, and the SS was fitted with attractive 17 inch cast aluminum alloy wheels. Under the hood, there was a variant of GM's renowned 5.7-liter LT1 V8 engine. The stock horsepower was 260, while the torque was an impressive 330 lb-ft. Many enthusiasts regard these full-sized, mid-1990s, B-body platform cars as the end of an era, and as a result, they are beloved for their style and ability to customize, as can be seen with this example from 1995.
