Description
In May 1991, under Ford Motor Company's ownership as part of its Premier Auto Group, the XJS was relaunched in its final form, dropping the hyphen from the model's name and marketing it simply as the XJS. The redesign included the removal of frames from the rear side windows, creating the illusion of enlarged windows despite retaining identical glass apertures as previous models. The windshield was flush-fitting, while the distinctive buttresses remained, albeit somewhat minimized by the new side window trim. Designer Geoff Lawson emphasized that the buttresses were integral to the car's character. Additionally, the V12 engine received upgrades to its injection and fuel system, along with new spark plugs, resulting in a tidier engine room.
