Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced for the 1984 model year, the C4-generation Corvette may have been the biggest leap from its forbears. It was able to shed 300 pounds with the utilization of plastic body panels, as opposed to fiberglass, which was integral to the lightweight construction of the first three generations. Heavy use of wind tunnel testing and aerodynamic tweaking brought its drag coefficient down to as low as 0.34. Upgrades extended to the engine bay, culminating in a new version of the L98 small block with aluminum heads that added tuned port fuel injection.
In 1991, one year after the introduction of the new ZR-1 grabbed the headlines, the base Chevrolet Corvette also received some considerable updates. Styling changes included a new rear fascia with a convex design and rectangular taillights inspired by the ZR-1, and the front end was updated with a new wraparound bumper and integrated fog lights. Power was supplied by a 5.7-liter V8 rated at 245 horsepower, mated to a four-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.
Chevrolet produced 20,639 Corvettes for the 1991 model year, but only 1,038 of those left the factory in this gorgeous Quazar Blue Metallic finish. And convertibles represented only about 27 percent of total production, making this Corvette Convertible a rare sight.
