Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
In 1971, Mercedes-Benz introduced the R107, a transformative model in their prestigious SL series that set new benchmarks for luxury roadsters. This successor to the acclaimed W113 "Pagoda" enjoyed an impressive 18-year production run, blending long-distance comfort with dynamic driving capabilities. A notable update in September 1985, unveiled at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, included subtle exterior refinements, an improved front suspension, and a new engine range, highlighted by the 5.5-liter V8 engine. Although the 560 SL was detuned for export markets due to emissions regulations, it remained a notable performer. The R107 series, encompassing models from the 300 SL to the 560 SL, concluded its distinguished tenure in August 1989, bringing an end to an era that began with the 350 SL.
