Description
The BMW M5, unveiled at the Amsterdam Motor Show in February 1985, marked a significant milestone in the automotive industry. Built on the 535i chassis, it underwent substantial mechanical modifications, notably featuring the revered M88/3 engine, which had been refined from the powerhouse found in the M1 sports car. This engine not only endowed the M5 with impressive power but also lent it a distinguished pedigree. Upon its launch, the M5 claimed the title of the fastest production sedan globally. Assembly of the E28 M5 initially took place at BMW Motorsport's plant in Preussenstrasse, Munich, before transitioning to Daimlerstrasse in Garching. Its limited production run, totaling just 2,241 units worldwide, solidified its status as one of the most sought-after and rare BMW Motorsport cars to date.
