1987 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
In 1971, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the R107, a groundbreaking iteration in their illustrious SL series that redefined luxury roadsters. With an impressive 18-year production run, the R107 gracefully succeeded the beloved W113 “Pagoda.” As a versatile long-distance cruiser and spirited roadster, it catered to both elegance and excitement. A major update in September 1985, showcased at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, introduced subtle exterior refinements, an enhanced front suspension, and a new engine range. The highlight was the 5.5-liter V8, which extended the stroke of the previous 5.0-liter unit, significantly boosting power. Although the 560 SL was detuned for export markets due to emissions regulations, it was a standout performer. The R107 series, spanning from the 300 SL to the 560 SL, concluded its remarkable run in August 1989, drawing the curtain on an era that began with the 350 SL.
