Description

In 1978, Chevrolet introduced a new, sleeker version of the El Camino, aligning it with the sharp-edged styling of the Malibu. Sporting a one-inch longer wheelbase of 117.1 inches, this model shared its front-end sheet metal and doors with the Malibu, while its rear bumper was borrowed from the Malibu station wagon. Notably, the El Camino boasted a unique chassis, distinct from any other Chevrolet vehicle at the time. By 1982, the El Camino received refreshed front styling, featuring a crosshatch grille flanked by quad rectangular headlights. Under the hood, there was a range of V6 and V8 engine offerings, perfectly suited to meet the needs of nearly every buyer. Offering the comfort and handling characteristics of a passenger car with the practicality of a pickup, the El Camino remains a unique car in automotive history and an interesting steppingstone to the luxury pickups on the road today.

This 1987 Chevrolet El Camino was formerly owned by NHRA world champion and NHRA Hall of Fame member Coleman Roddy of Port Auther, Texas, who won Comp world championships in 1983 and 1984. Plus, it’s the upscale Conquista model featuring two-tone paint and bright moldings. The odometer reads 39,854 miles from new.
