1987 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Interior Overview
Description
“When you're the Grandest Tiger in the Jungle, when you drive the Boss Eagle of the Skies, you're secure from challenge, above the petty disputes embroiling lesser beings,” wrote Road & Track magazine. “With the 1987 [Chevrolet Corvette], you know that no matter what anybody else drives, no matter what the situation, if you choose to do it you can do anything they can do, but better, so you can sit back and relax.” The fourth-generation C4 Corvette was developed with an emphasis on improved handling and braking, and the sleek exterior was thoroughly overhauled but still incorporated several Corvette hallmarks, like pop-up headlights and quad rear taillights. The updated interior included a digital instrument panel advertised as “the most sophisticated instrumentation package ever offered in a production automobile.” New in 1986 was the return of the convertible, along with the familiar coupe with fully removable one-piece roof panel, and the safety of Bosch antilock brakes for the first time — all of which carried over into 1987, earning Corvette a place on Car and Driver magazine’s Top 10 list.
This well-preserved 1987 Corvette Convertible shows just 22,348 miles from new, one of only 479 ragtops finished in 35U Yellow that year.
