1986 Rolls-Royce Corniche II
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Long known as the final word for elegance, the Rolls-Royce Corniche was first introduced to the world in 1971. By 1986, Rolls-Royce debuted the updated Corniche II, built especially for the United States market. The Mulliner Park Ward design was “shaped by hand,” with each Corniche II said to have taken five months to create, with two weeks alone spent building and fitting the convertible’s top. New for 1986 features included a cellular telephone, “memory” front seats, and a new center console. Naturally, Rolls-Royce did not forget to include their traditional luxuries such as the finest English Connolly leather, matching Lombardy wood veneers, and Lambswool carpeting. Despite its weight of just over three tons (6,184 pounds), the Corniche II could reach 120 miles per hour thanks to its 6.75-liter V8 engine. All of the rarity, elegance, and luxury did not come without substantial cost. The Corniche II debuted with a hefty price of $163,800 or over $450,000 today!
Rolls-Royce dubbed their new Corniche II, “The Ultimate Convertible” rightfully noting that, “The Corniche II is designed for the person who wants to combine top-down motoring with the ultimate is elegance and luxury.”
