Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Although Motor Trend claimed, “There’s simply nothing else out there with RX-7’s combination of price, performance, and styling,” Mazda still managed to raise the bar yet again for 1984. RX-7 power levels saw an increase with a 34 percent gain in horsepower, along with 24 percent more torque. The sports car’s Wankel rotary engine offered smooth running with limited moving parts, and thanks to its small packaging, it was placed low and far back in the chassis to create a front-mid-engine car with only minimal reduction to the passenger compartment.

Thanks to this improved weight distribution and well-engineered suspension, Mazda enhanced the already fantastic handling characteristics of a car that continues to have a devout following today. This includes examples like the top-of-the-line 1984 RX-7 GSL SE on offer, which has the added benefit of being equipped with the desirable five-speed manual transmission.

 Ownership History

This 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL SE has been titled in California for 40 years and has remained in the same small neighborhood in Marin County its entire life. The original owner received the vehicle as a retirement gift and eventually sold it to his neighbor, the current owner, in 1999.  Mileage at that time was 102K miles. Since then, the car has been driven regularly, but only for short distances. It is offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
