Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
A true legend was born on 17 April 1964, when the first Ford Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan. Two decades later, in 1984, Ford commemorated the 20th anniversary of the model with the limited-production 20th Anniversary Limited Edition GT. Available as both a fastback and convertible, each exampled was adorned with Oxford White exterior over a striking Canyon Red interior. Buyers could choose between the advanced turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine or the 5.0-liter Windsor V8, the latter rated at 175 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque. The exterior was distinguished by unique styling cues including special bodyside moldings and GT350 graphics, paying homage to the Shelby models of the 1960s. Inside, a 20th anniversary instrument panel applique and classic horse ornamentation were further nods to the Mustang's heritage. Ford produced approximately 5,261 of these Anniversary Limited Editions, each with a personalized serial number plate. While not a true Shelby collaboration, this GT350 represented Ford's efforts to recapture the Mustang's performance image and marked an important step in the model's evolution during the 1980s.
