Description

“The only pickup of its kind,” is how Chevrolet described the 1983 El Camino. In 1978, Chevrolet introduced a new, sleeker version of the El Camino, aligning it with the sharp-edged styling of the down-sized Malibu. Sporting a one inch longer wheelbase of 117.1 inches, this model shared its front-end sheet metal and doors with the Malibu, while its rear bumper was borrowed from the Malibu station wagon. Notably, the El Camino boasted a unique chassis, distinct from any other Chevrolet vehicle at the time. By 1982, the El Camino received refreshed front styling while under the hood there was a range of V6 and V8 engine offerings.

Many trucks are worked hard and put away wet. Not this original condition 1983 El Camino SS. Purchased new at Capitol Chevrolet in Nashville, Tennessee, the original owner cared for the El Camino meticulously until his passing in 2001. His friend always admired the truck and purchased it from the family in 2003, continuing its care and protection. Offering the comfort and handling characteristics of a passenger car with the practicality of a pickup, this two-owner 1983 El Camino SS is one of a kind.
