Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Ferrari 308 GTB was unveiled to the world in October 1975 at the Paris Salon, succeeding the gorgeous Dino 246 GT and marking the first time a V8-powered model was badged entirely as a Ferrari from launch. To the delight of Ferraristi who remained unconvinced by the Bertone styling of the 308 GT4 2+2, the Pininfarina-styled 308 GTB shared more in common with its progenitor, the 246 GT, including its scalloped side intakes, twin circular rear lights, and concave rear window buttressed by sail panels. In September 1977 a Spider variant, the 308 GTS, was introduced with a removable vinyl-covered roof section which could be stored behind the seats when not in use. 1980 saw the first significant mechanical change to the 308 with the adoption of dry-sump lubrication in all markets (U.S.-market cars had wet sump lubrication at launch), and the introduction of fuel injection. Also gaining an “i” suffix in the model designation, the GTBi and GTSi models offer much smoother power delivery than their carbureted predecessors and provide an excellent entry point into Ferrari ownership today.
