1982 Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta Walk-Around
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Amid a wave of nostalgia for 1980s icons, third-generation Camaros are becoming highly sought-after by collectors – especially low-mileage, highly original examples like the car offered here. The third-generation Camaro, produced from 1982 to 1992, debuted with a slim and angular design in contrast to its voluptuous predecessor, shaving seven inches off its wheelbase and weighing 500 pounds lighter. Thanks to its enormous glass hatchback and folding rear seats, the new Camaro was also more practical than any Camaro before or since. To the relief of muscle car enthusiasts, the third-gen Camaro retained rear-wheel drive at a time when other manufactures were widely adopting front-wheel drive platforms due to the fuel crunches of the era – powering the rear wheels via a range of inline-four, V6, and V8 engines. Four Chevrolet Camaro models were offered in 1982: the Sports Coupe, Berlinetta, Z28, and Z28 Indy Edition. The mid-range Berlinetta came equipped with the 2.8-liter V6 and a number of unique cosmetic touches, sporting 14-inch finned aluminum wheels with gold accenting, lower-body pinstriping, gold “Berlinetta” badging, and a standard custom cloth interior with full instrumentation.
