1980 Toyota Celica Walk Around

1980 Toyota Celica Driving POV
Description
The Toyota Celica debuted at the 1970 Tokyo Motor Show and was offered as a three-door hardtop coupe before a liftback variant was added for 1971—the same year it arrived in the United States. Eventually produced across seven generations (through 2006), the second-gen Celica (1978-81) provided additional power and safety features over the original, and it was named “Import of the Year” by Motor Trend magazine. The new-look Celica, designed in the United States by Toyota's Calty Research Design studio in California, featured frameless door glass, a thick "B" pillar, square Halogen headlights, a new grille, a revised hood, and new taillights. All U.S.-spec models, of course, also wore black rubber safety bumpers. The GT was the top trim level and was available in Sport Coupe or Liftback form. Toyota advertising called the GT Liftback “lean, clean, and a little bit mean,” and “a unique combination of the fantastic and the practical.”
