1980 Chevrolet C10 Fleetside
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Thoroughly redesigned from front to back, the all-new third-generation C/K series of trucks emerged in 1973 and proved to be the longest-lived series in Chevrolet’s history, remaining in production with subtle changes until 1991. The truck’s boxy, modern profile featured a hood that was completely flush with the fenders and doors that were set into the roofline, earning it the “square body” moniker. Mechanical improvements over the previous generation included a switch from standard coils to leaf springs at the rear, longer front leaf springs, and an energy-absorbing steering column. For 1980, the square body received a single-model-year front-end design with a flatter front grille and square headlights, previewing the 1981 design which would carry the C/K series to the end of production. Today, this generation of Chevrolet pickups are some of the most beloved collector trucks extant for their handsome styling, robust build quality, and enduring usability.
This lot is offered Without Reserve from The Roger Boman Collection, which comprises 27 vehicles ranging from European to American classics. Many examples within the collection feature Mr. Boman’s standard modification “formula,” including but not limited to the addition of disc brakes, air conditioning, modern fuel injection, and many other custom touches seen by countless enthusiasts around the Fresno, California area who shared the late owner’s passion for this unique assortment of automobiles.
