1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 Drive By
Description
The Toyota Land Cruiser J40 series debuted in the early 1960s amidst the cultural phenomena of "The Twist", The Beatles, and the Austin Mini, embodying practicality and durability crucial in remote and challenging terrains. Initially powered by a 3.9-liter Type F inline-six gasoline engine producing 125 horsepower, it underwent upgrades like a four-speed gearbox in 1974, enhancing driving dynamics. The 1975 model saw a new 4.2-liter inline-six gasoline engine, boosting power to 135 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, while in 1976, the US model gained front disc brakes for improved stopping power. By 1979, American-market FJ40s offered air conditioning and power steering, reflecting its evolution to meet both rugged off-road demands and increasing consumer comfort expectations.
