1976 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced in the spring of 1971, the third generation of Mercedes-Benz SL, known as the “R107,” represented a significant evolution in the SL lineup, transitioning into a high-performance luxury roadster. It was the first SL to feature a V8 engine, initially a 3.5-liter and later a 4.5-liter, introduced in 1973. The R107's design included a folding soft top and a removable steel hardtop, offering the versatility of an open roadster and the convenience of a closed coupe. With its classic Teutonic styling, the R107 has aged gracefully and remains a beloved and versatile classic within the Mercedes-Benz range.
Beginning in the late 1960’s, the modifying of Mercedes-Benz cars to meet their owners’ wishes became more a regular occurrence. Since then, numerous brands and owners have worked to modify examples with upgraded cosmetics and drive-train components. These modifications range from simple wheel upgrades to full body kits, redesigned interiors, and even repowered examples with truly potent engines. In the same spirit, this 1976 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL received a full complement of upgrades throughout the car, as detailed below.
