1974-77 Porsche 911: Everything you need to know about the ‘mid-years’ | PCA Spotlight

1974 Porsche 911 Coupe Driving Video
Description
For model year 1974, the body design of the Porsche 911 was comprehensively redesigned for the first time to meet US government regulations. But underneath the “G model” 911 was still based on competition-level technology, including forged aluminum wheels, dry-sump lubrication, torsion bar suspension, 5-speed manual transaxle, and a lightweight magnesium engine case.
This base 1974 911 was ordered in this attractive shade of Mexico Blue along with all 911S options. The body and undercarriage received a bare metal respray using correct factory Glasurit paint in the original color. Bosch H4 lights with NOS German lenses and chrome trim have been added along with a new Carrera front lip spoiler and European front bumper trim. The original engine was rebuilt by Jeff Hines to 911S specifications and CIS system tuned by Al Kosmal. With the exception of a new headliner, the one-year-only interior has been preserved, including the original blue/black carpet and seats with original covers. The suspension has been set to European ride height with fresh shocks, bushings, and brakes.
Many early 911s have been modified in all manner of ways with preserved examples rarer with each passing year. This cherished 1974 911 Coupe, however, has been lovingly unspoiled for future enthusiasts to enjoy.
