Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Ford Mustang changed vastly in the nine years after its original launch in April 1964 — most notably growing in size — but the 1973 version was still part of the car’s first-generation run, albeit the final year. A 5-mph bumper was now required in front and a 2.5-mile bumper in the rear, adding four inches to the length of the car. Production increased to 134,817 units, partly due to the news that there would be no convertible in the downsized Mustang II the following year. In fact, there wouldn’t be another convertible Mustang until 1983.
Engine options ranged from a 250-cubic-inch inline six to a four-barrel 351 Cobra Jet V8; the original buyer of this one selected a two-barrel 351 V8. And, like most 1973 Mustangs, it is mated to a Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission and had power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning.
A large, square, chrome headlamp bezel appeared for ’73, as did chrome trim around the taillights. A color keyed Urethane front bumper replaced the chrome units of the previous years, and the front parking lights were now placed vertically in the redesigned front grille. Sixteen colors were offered, along with 19 interior combinations.
