Description
Chassis No. FK33059 Launched in 1962, the Triumph Spitfire continually evolved until the end of production in 1980. This 1972 Mark IV features a redesigned rear end and a revised front end. Other changes for the Mark IV include a completely refreshed dashboard and a new instrument panel. The Standard SC inline-four's compression was raised from last generation up to 9.5:1, upping the horsepower to 95. Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti penned the wonderful body lines and featured roll-up windows, while many competitors still utilized side curtains. A racy car, it won numerous National Sports Car Championships with the Sports Car Club of America, in addition to rallies across Europe. The Spitfire also marked the final Triumph automobile sold in the United States.
