1970 Pontiac LeMans Sport Hardtop Coupe
Description
“LeMans is the kind of car you hate to put in the garage. It looks so good sitting out.” Pontiac knew they had a good thing going. All the Tempest-based models, including LeMans and GTO, got a nice style upgrade, with a bolder appearance. Powertrains remained the same, although GTOs now got a massive 455 cu-in V8 option, the largest Pontiac engine ever. But sales of the GTO dropped significantly, it’s high price and exploding insurance rates hurting its appeal. So, the LeMans became an excellent option, with similar style, great comfort, and near-GTO performance with the optional 400 cu-in V8.
This 1970 Pontiac began life as a Tempest Custom, later upgraded to premium LeMans Sport trim. Performance is also very GTO-like, enhanced with a Pontiac 455 cu-in V8 under the hood through a Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission. Carrying a strong Seventies vibe with Baja Gold paint, Sandalwood vinyl top, and a GTO rear spoiler, this 1970 Pontiac LeMans Sport Hardtop Coupe still looks so good sitting out.
