1970 Buick GS 455 Convertible Walk Around
Description
“Introducing automobiles to light your fire.” That’s how Buick described its new GS 455 muscle car. Gran Sport was launched in 1964 as Buick’s answer to the successful Pontiac GTO. By 1968 it was on its second-generation body that would carry it through 1972 and the end of the muscle era.
The pinnacle of GS performance came in 1970 with the introduction of the 455 cu-in, 350-hp V8. Punching out Buick’s 400 to 455 meant lengthening the stroke, which produced massive torque, 510 lb-ft of it at just 2800 rpm, the highest of era. It would take more than 20 years for the Dodge Viper to beat that earthshaking figure. “The GS 455, the first of the ’70s, is a car we would take home to mother or to the dragstrip for grudge night,” Car Life magazine reported.
The 1970 GS 455 was one of the elite performers of 1970, but uncommon by Detroit standards: A total of 5,589 GS 455 coupes were produced, and just 1,184 convertibles. This one is refinished in its original Bamboo Cream with a white top and Pearl White vinyl bucket seat interior. In both looks and performance this is a Buick that could light anyone's fire.

Ownership History
The consignor reports this 1970 Buick GS 455 Convertible is an older restoration that still shows very well. Although it does have some imperfections the paint it still has a high luster. The car runs and drives very well with fully functioning air conditioning. The convertible top is new and operates properly. With its GSX spoilers and stripes it definitely turns heads.
