Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1969 Oldsmobile mid-size models received only minor trim changes from their 1968 counterparts, with what would be an Olds trademark split grille with vertical bars and vertical taillights. Per federal safety regulations, headrests were now standard equipment, and the ignition switch moved from the instrument panel to the steering column to lock the steering when not in use, one year before the locking steering columns were federally mandated. Engine offerings were unchanged from 1968, but a new Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 transmission was added to the option list and available with all versions of the 350 cubic-inch V8.

The Oldsmobile F-85 Series offered only a single two-door coupe model, the Sports Coupe. Standard equipment included four-way flashers, front arm rests, cigar/cigarette lighter, seat belts and shoulder harnesses, driver's side rearview mirror, and chrome hubcaps. Buyers could turn it up a notch with the 1969 Cutlass S Holiday Coupe, which had everything offered on the F-85 Sports Coupe, along with hood louvers, insulated fiberglass hood blanket, nylon blend carpeting, a special molding package, deluxe steering wheel, and vinyl/cloth upholstery.

The 1969 Oldsmobile brochure called its mid-range Cutlass S Holiday Coupe “a great way to go Olds without going overboard.”
