1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Sport Coupe
Description
Chevrolet’s response to Ford’s pony car was worth the two-year wait, the Camaro proving to be a worthy answer to the Mustang with strong sales. The last update of the first-generation Camaro in 1969 was also the most popular, with new squared-off wheel arches, a ‘V’-shaped grille, vented rear quarter panels, and a sleek rear valance panel all made for an overall more aggressive appearance.
Most of the major mechanical underpinnings were carried over from the previous year, including a plethora of small block V8s and automatic or manual transmission options. The 1969 Camaro is considered to be the ultimate blend of muscle and good looks, especially when equipped with the extra-cost L48 350 cu-in V8 and Z22 RS trim, such as this example.
This particular Camaro RS/SS was produced in the third week of April 1969 at the Norwood, Ohio plant and finished in Dover White (50) with a Black (B) vinyl top and Black (712) vinyl bucket seats. The original owner, Mr. Nathan Miller, purchased the Camaro from Dick Fencl Chevrolet in Oak Park, Illinois, on 29 April 1969. The odometer shows 15,542 which are believed to be original based on its preserved condition, and received a score of 96 out of 100, earning it “Legend” status from Vintage Certification in 2004.
