1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS Restomod Walk Around
Description
Chevrolet’s response to Ford’s pony car was worth the two-year wait, the Camaro proving to be a worthy answer to the Mustang with strong sales. The last update of the first-generation Camaro in 1969 was also the most popular, with new squared-off wheel arches, a ‘V’-shaped grille, vented rear quarter panels, and a sleek rear valance panel all made for an overall more aggressive appearance.
“Project Darkness” completely transformed this 1969 Camaro Coupe. Under the matte black skin is a full tube chassis featuring C6 Corvette front suspension, a nine-inch Detroit Locker rear end, adjustable tri-link rear suspension, and C6 Corvette disc brakes all around. Motivation comes from a Corvette Z06 427 LS V8 stroked to 440 cu-in through a Tremec six-speed Dodge Viper-spec manual transmission. BFGoodrich g-force tires, 18x8 up front and 20x14 in back, attempt to contain the Z06 power. Inside is a complete competition interior with racing seats and Leaf Racewear harnesses. Underneath is a flat sheet metal belly pan with a removable panel for drive shaft and transmission access. With great attention to detail and specification this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS brings on the darkness.
