1968 Jaguar E Type 2+2 Cold Start
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Unveiled at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type burst onto the scene, igniting a revolution in sports car design and engineering. Its breathtaking body lines, unmatched performance, and prestigious racing pedigree instantly captivated enthusiasts worldwide. Improvements since 1963 brought the “Series 1½” in 1967 with the better brakes, lighting, engine cooling, electrics, and revised dashboard switches that would also appear on the 1969 Series 2 models. Customers could select an open-top roadster, coupe, or a sleek 2+2. The 2+2 had a nine inch longer wheelbase (105 inches total) than the coupe and a “fully upholstered rear seat for children,” according to the Jaguar brochure, along with optional amenities like air conditioning, power steering, and an automatic transmission to be more appealing to American buyers.
This late Series 1½ 2+2 was purchased in 1976 from the original owner. The consignor states the engine, transmission, and all major components are original, and the Jaguar drives well. Outside, the paint is worn, and the rocker panels need attention. The interior upholstery is badly worn, and there is rust in the floors and rear wheelwells. However, this uncommon Jaguar is a generally solid foundation ready for refurbishment or full restoration.
